Radio interviews can be so frustrating can’t they? In fact, like any time you speak in public any type of interview can be, if the interviewer is just not getting you or what it is they are interviewing you about.
Not if you are lucky enough to be on Mark O’Donnell’s show on BBC Wiltshire. Oh my gosh he completely got it. His show was all about the power of coming together and doing stuff as a group, He asked for songs that were about community, examples of groups of people doing anything together to the benefit of that community. It was not just a feel good show, it was inspiring.
When we discussed exactly what Community Buying can do for a community, because it developed into a discussion rather than an interview, and what the power of the group actually is, he called it completely right: we can literally buy anything as a group. “Printer ink” he said. “Exactly,” I said, “it is literally anything”.
The link to listen to that show is here and our slot begins around 1h27m in: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01f0vyfIt was a pleasure to be part of that inspirational programme and to get to know Mark – he even played my song suggestion: “Something inside so strong” by Labi Siffre – and I very much look forward to the follow-up show and to helping Mark build a Community Printer Ink/Toner Buying Group!
I want to say “Thank you Mark”. You finished our slot with clear profound proof that you already grasp the power of the group: “It’s not just about cash is it? It’s about us…us doing the right thing for our own community”.
